Project objectives

The project will follow some of the routes of refugees through Europe to better understand the situation in the countries concerned. With seminars and workshops in each country of the participating partners some core issues will be addressed:

  • the current local and European situation regarding refugees coming from their origin or through transit countries;
  • the self-help, ngo- and municipal or regional structures, educational programs and support systems;
  • the multitude of possibilities of cooperation on projects and build-up of transnational networking for task forces in social and educational work with refugees;
  • share experiences and learn about new aspects to improve advisory quality and support of refugees in our countries through project visits, workshops and round tables.

The project will start in the Italian region of Calabria. Most of the refugees do strand after crossing the sea by boat in southern Italy which is their sole entrance to Europe after the Balkan route has been almost completely closed. A huge number of refugees try to migrate further to northern European countries, others do stay in the Italian cities and in the countryside. Italy is almost left alone with this situation and needs European support in providing and distribution of the refugees.
