This workshop makes it possible to build up new knowledge. Before processing substrates, they must be assessed for suitability. The test is carried out under normal construction site conditions. This seminar is intended to teach testing options that go beyond the usual on-site tests (laboratory analyses, etc.).

The speaker with practical experience is available as a sparring partner. The direct speaker feedback and an undisturbed working atmosphere enable concentrated work on your project.
Target group Foremen, employees with relevant work experience, employees with knowledge, skills, abilities at EQF level 5.
Entry requirement People with EQF level 5 or equivalent; people with advanced skills (work experience, additional qualifications, further training) who are proficient in their field.

Goals / field of competence Measurement technology has also become very advanced in the field of paint and coatings technology. Nevertheless, there are certain limits, for example in the search for causes of defects. A distinction must be made between laboratory analyses and tests on the construction site. The aim of this event is to highlight the opportunities and limitations of “paint and coatings testing technology”.
Training tasks Description of detailed goals / content (fine goals). Learning outcomes according to PSA qualification portfolio:

Participants are trained in theory and practice on the following topics:

·        Pitfalls of color tone measurement – When is the conventional color tone meter sufficient? Multi-angle color tone measurement vs. sphere geometry!

·        Gloss level – Possibilities for determining the gloss level.

·        Limits and opportunities of IR measurement – IR spectroscopy is used for quantitative determination of known substances. Frequent question to the expert: 4 building sides – one material?

·        Emissions – Odors – Indoor Air Measurement (Speaker: Dr. Helge Kramberger)

It happens regularly that customers complain about odors after indoor painting work. It does not even have to be extensive work. Often, it is enough if an overhaul coat of interior wall paint has been applied. The products used are often inconspicuous (low-emission, free of solvents and plasticizers). Can the cause of indoor odors be determined?

·        UV short-term weathering, condensation water test and salt spray – only for the laboratory? – Laboratory examples, best corrosion protection with which application method? Changes in color shade

·        Everything about microscopy

So that the practical part can be taught, the event will take place in the laboratory of the Städt. Fachschule für Farb- und Lacktechnik Munich.
